As you know, that kind of happens automatically if you leave it long enough - but the ability to manually do so could be handy :)

Hmm, a bit torn about this one.
One thing I think should exist, especially if you're going to extend the reservation time, is a way to unreserve if you change your mind. So that you can relinquish the chapter to other users that may wish to submit that chapter.

As it stands at the moment, authors are able to edit their chapters for 24 hours from the date it was last edited.. So in theory, someone could edit it every 23 hours, and would retain the ability to edit it forever more.

Obviously this is not a great situation as it is possibly open to abuse (although unlikely), but also, as you correctly stated, it means that if a chapter isn't approved, and the author takes longer than 24 hours to come back to fix the problems, they'll lose the ability to do so.

To remedy this I'm going to change it so that unapproved chapters (and stories) can be edited for as long as they're still unapproved, but remove the ability for them to be edited once they are approved.

Sounds good. Will it be possible to edit chapters that have already been approved? We've discussed the problems with that.

More importantly, I think there should be an option to let you make changes to a chapter that hasn't been approved. So that moderators can check it, ask for changes if need be and those changes are then easy to do.
